I wanted to share with you a quick story…a bit of rise and fall one… with a kinda creative ending…

I am always on the lookout for strategies that will enable me to diversify my online businesses.

I don’t know if it’s the first time you hear and meet me or we’ve been in contact via one of my newsletters for years.

I’m no one special. But I’ve been smart enough to earn a full-time independent living online since 2010.

I’ve done a few things right (and a lot wrong).

So I’ve seen a whole lot of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The evolution of nearly a decade online.

Entered the CPA affiliate marketing world

Anyhow, I’d been pondering getting involved with the CPA Affiliate Marketing scene for some years.

But for some reason, I never gotten into it much.

I knew the basics.

The ins and outs but had never really given it a shot.

So I started getting into the CPA Affiliate Marketing scene a bit more seriously.

I first started promoting eCommerce Cash-On-Delivery (COD) type offers.

These offers work in a different way compared to the standard CPA offers like Cost Per Lead, Cost Per Install, Cost Per Sale, etc type of offers.

Visitors have to fill in their number.

Then they get a call from a call centre to confirm their order for you to get paid.

Anyhow, very early in the game, I was able to show results.

I even documented those early results as a guide thread, for others to follow step by step, to a good friend’s private forum here.

Soon after that I started playing in the adult vertical scene. In particular with adult dating Lead Generation type offers offers.

The Cost Per Lead offers tend to be easier to convert.

They are like the typical internet marketing lead generation offers where a visitor must put their email to gain (usually) free access (initially) to something.

And you get paid when someone puts their email address into the advertizer’s landing page form.

I promoted these offers initially linking directly from paid traffic sources to their landing pages.

I always start like that till I see some results to save some time.

Conversions started to come in very early in the promotion …

Used my own style of promoting

Because of my Internet Marketing background, I always tend to build my own email lists to generate my own traffic sources.

Especially when I pay for the traffic I feel that am wasting money if I don’t build at least an email list with that money.

You see, I strongly believe that having your own traffic is the most important asset in this game.

And I thought the Adult Lead Generation offers would be great to make some relatively easy money and also to use as the bootstrapping platform to build my own lists.

So I started promoting a few of those offers and at the same time started building email traffic.

Here’s some early results…

And here’s a video I made to a friend that helped me to get into the CPA scene. First to show him some really early results with what I’d been working on and then to pick on him for only direct linking to offers.

(Note: This video was not supposed to be public. I usually don’t sound like a gangsta IRL. I was picking up on my friend 😁)

“I am on to something special”

To do this even better I started building more of my own Landing Pages. And here’s some screenshots showing what I was doing…

Above is the screenshot of one of the Landing/Squeeze pages I used …

…that got me that $1.67 EPC on an adult lead gen offer!

Just in case you’re not familiar with the Earnings Per Click, this is a metric indicating how an offer will do usually per 100 clicks.

However most CPA affiliate networks indicate EPCs per 1000 clicks. So that $1.67 meant that if I’d send 1000 clicks I’d make $1,670.

So guess what I did?

That’s right. I kept building my adult dating email lists and driving traffic to that offer 😁.

Now to be clear not all money shown above was from that one offer. That EPC of 1.67 did not stay the same through out. But the majority of the money came from that one offer.

And here’s a screenshot of the self-hosted email server I setup to add and email those leads.

☝️You can’t use autoresponders like Aweber or Get Response for adult type traffic.

But I am getting ahead of the story… Let me get back on track …

So once I started seeing the potential with building my own email traffic, I started taking this traffic building approach to the next level.

I literally went into “traffic building beast mode”.

I wanted to build and monetize every list I possibly could!

started building lists like crazy!

So on top of building email lists…

I started building Push Notification lists…You know the prompts that ask you to say yes to subscribe to notifications when visiting a site? That’s Push Notification.

At the same time I started building pixel lists. Like Facebook Custom Audience Pixel Lists …

And Google Remarketing Pixel Lists…

☝️ It’s important to note that you can’t directly run ads off of these pixel lists on Facebook or Google. They don’t allow adult type traffic. But you can use them to cross promote allowed type offers.

Even traffic that didn’t go for my Landing Page “bait”, I was monetizing it sending them to Smart Link offers via exit pops.

And here’s some stats from that …

As you can imagine, soon my combined Lists building approach started to have a compounding effect.

And I started getting days like this…

Then to this …

And soon I’ve had days like this all the time …

The combination of 100% White Hat, simple, internet marketing strategies and tactics worked like gangbusters in a market that’s mostly known for its Black Hat practices!

I was well on my way to add yet another healthy income stream to my current online businesses.

This was my goal to begin with.

And Then…

Disaster..!

Shortly after, I started going through some -not so nice – issues of personal nature.

Without going into too many details, I am married with 3 amazing kids.

Lessons to be learned

My wife and I shared all aspects of the online businesses together.

She didn’t have a tech or an online background before me.

But I encouraged her involvement mainly to the fact that if something was to happen to me, she knows everything and money won’t stop coming in for her and the kids.

You see, am not getting any younger. And my lifestyle(!) of sitting endless hours in front of a monitor …well, you don’t really call it healthy.

So I wanted to ensure the family is covered.

At least financially.

So her involvement ranged from full access to the tools, platforms and even…bank accounts.

To cut a long story short, my wife and I had some issues and I ended up losing access to all of my personal income!

Literally overnight!

Yes! Some interesting stories to be told here…

Anyhow, because of that sudden situation I miraculously managed to put myself into, I decided to start offering the tech setup I did and brought me the results I’ve shown you…
